FOURTH OF JULY PARADE

Blacksburg, Virginia

• The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club is sponsoring the 26th Annual Blacksburg 4th of July Parade.
• The theme is "PRESERVING OUR HERITAGE".
• We invite you to join us with your floats, marching units, antique cars, race cars, horse units, fire engines, scouting units, bands, sports teams, etc.

• July 4th, 2012, beginning promptly at 2:00 PM.

• Significant change for 2012 due to College Avenue construction. (Click for map.)
• Beginning on Eheart Street at the former location of the Old Blacksburg Middle School,
• Ending on on Alumni Mall, near Tech’s Drillfield..

• 1:30 PM — Line up on Eheart Street. (Click for map.)
• Line-up position will be e-mailed to participants a few days before the parade.
• Ruritan Club members will be on hand on Eheart Street to assist with line-up.

• PRESERVING OUR HERITAGE

• No more than 13 feet high.
• Candy may be passed out, but MUST NOT BE THROWN FROM VEHICLES
  • This is a safety related issue.
  • This is so kids don’t run into the street near vehicle wheels to pick up candy.
• Vehicles must travel at parade speed and not accelerate towards spectators.

• Best Theme Representation
• Best Youth Unit
• Best Overall Unit.
• Judging begins at 2:00 PM.

• Following the parade at 4:00 PM, the Lyric Theatre will screen a free movie "Field of Dreams"

• Sponsored by the Mt Tabor Ruritan club.

• Also several Blacksburg downtown merchants will have July 4th specials.

Town of Blacksburg Events

• Beginning at 6 PM, the Blacksburg Parks & Recreation Department, at Blacksburg Municipal Park on Turner Street near the Blacksburg Community Center, will present musical events.
  • At 6 PM -- Blacksburg Community Band, Blacksburg Community Strings and Celebration Chorus
  • At 8 PM -- The Meter's Running featuring the Big Dog Brass
• Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM near the Blacksburg Community Center
