FOURTH OF JULY PARADE

Blacksburg, Virginia

• The Mount Tabor Ruritan Club is sponsoring the Twenty-fourth Annual Blacksburg 4th of July Parade.
• The theme is ‘OUR UNITED STATES — ONE NATION’.
• We invite you to join us with your floats, marching units, antique cars, race cars, horse units, fire engines, scouting units, bands, sports teams, etc.

• July 4th, 2011, beginning promptly at 2:00 PM.

• Significant change for 2011 due to North Main Street construction. (Click for map.)
• Beginning on Eheart Street at Old Blacksburg Middle School,
• Parking Lot at the corner of College Avenue and Otey Street near Squires.
• Blacksburg Transit will have shuttle buses available to return marchers to the Middle School.

• 1:30 PM — Line up on Eheart Street. (Click for map.)
• Line-up position will be e-mailed to participants a few days before the parade.
• Ruritan Club members will be on hand on Eheart Street to assist with line-up.

• OUR UNITED STATES — ONE NATION

• No more than 13 feet high.
• Candy may be passed out, but MUST NOT BE THROWN FROM VEHICLES
  • This is a safety related issue.
  • This is so kids don’t run into the street near vehicle wheels to pick up candy.
• Vehicles must travel at parade speed and not accelerate towards spectators.

• Best Theme Representation
• Best Youth Unit
• Best Overall Unit.
• Judging begins at 2:00 PM.

• Following the parade at 4:00 PM, the Lyric Theatre will screen a free movie " Remember the Titans"

• Sponsored by the Mt Tabor Ruritan club.

• Also several Blacksburg downtown merchants will have July 4th specials.

Town of Blacksburg Events

• Beginning at 5 PM, the Blacksburg Parks & Recreation Department, at Blacksburg Municipal Park on Turner Street near the Blacksburg Community Center, will present musical events.
  • The Meter's Running featuring the Big Dog Brass
  • Blacksburg Community Band
  • Blacksburg Community Strings
  • Celebration Chorus
• Fireworks begin at 9:30 PM at the Old Blacksburg High School
