Community Fish Fry

• Everyone is invited. Meet your friends here all summer.

• The second Saturday of every month May through September.

• At Slusser's Chapel picnic shelter at 1543 Mount Tabor Road, Blacksburg, VA .

• Serving from 5 PM until 7 PM, rain or shine.

• Cost:

  • Gift certificates available

  • $8.00 for adults or carry out box.

  • $4.00 for children under 12.

• Menu - All you care to eat:

  • Deep fried whitefish

    • Prepared while you watch using a special home-made 3 step batter.

    • Cooked hot and fresh on the spot

  • French-fried potatoes

    • Cooked hot on the spot

  • Coleslaw

    • Home-made by club members the night before the fish fry

    • Special sauce

    • Cabbage and carrots

  • Drinks:

    • Iced tea (sweet and unsweetened)

    • Lemonade

    • Coffee

    • Water

  • Dessert cake selection

    • Home-made by club members

• Eat on picnic tables under covered picnic shelter

• Some regulars meet here with friends and family every month year after year.

• All profits from this major fund raiser are used for the Community Service projects this club completes each year.

• Statistics for the fish fry:

  • Over thirty years and still going strong.

  • About 2500 meals served each summer.

  • Half a ton to whitefish served each summer.

  • About 750 pounds of cabbage chopped for slaw each summer

  • Over 700 hours of labor performed by volunteers each summer
