Developing this Web Resource Guide for Economic
Development for Blacksburg and the New River Valley is one of these
projects. The intent is identifying, compiling and listing online resources
for businesses interested in starting up, relocating to or expanding in
Blacksburg and the New River Valley.

Business/Technology Center (BTC). This center is managed by the
university's Pamplin College of Business. Its purpose is to provide

including strategic planning, marketing, intellectual property, human

primary vehicle for contributing to economic development. The Center is

Valley Incubator Network

Serving the Counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski and the City of
Radford offering incubator tenants counseling with business plan development,
financial management and other business assistance as needed. Provides
opportunities for small businesses/industry in the area. In February 1998, the
Giles Business Incubator opened as a business development incubator and
currently houses six (6) tenants. The New River Valley Competitiveness Center is
an industrial development incubator that opened April 12, 1999 and currently has
ten (10) tenants. In the early planning stage is the Jacksonville Center in
Floyd County. This incubator will be dedicated to start-up artisan and craft
businesses.

The New River Valley Development Corporation is a non-profit organization
which was formed in 1983 by the Counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and
Pulaski, and the Towns of Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Pulaski, and the City
of Radford. The Corporation consists of four representatives of these eight
localities and one additional member appointed by the Planning District
Commission. The Development Corporation is representative of business,
government, finance, and civic organizations.
